About the Original Song Inspired by Fonkoze Program Members

Fanm CLM Yo — A Musical Tribute to the Women of CLM

“Like the reed, we bend, but we do not break.”

Fanm CLM Yo (The Women of CLM) is more than a song—it is a powerful anthem of strength, unity, and transformation created in honor of the women participating in Fonkoze’s poverty reduction program Chemen Lavi Miyò (CLM) program — Pathway to a Better Life.

Written by Haitian artist Cisco and performed alongside Zama, Nadine Niles, and Fameuse Maude, the song celebrates the courage, leadership, and perseverance of Haitian women working to build better lives for themselves, their children, and their communities. Through music, poetry, and lived experience, Fanm CLM Yo reflects the spirit of women who continue moving forward despite extraordinary challenges—bending, but never breaking.

Through vibrant Creole lyrics and collaborative artistry, the project honors women who:

  • Step into leadership and advocate for brighter futures
  • Sustain families, communities, and local economies
  • Persist through hardship with resilience and determination

As the song reminds us:

“When you support a woman, you help a family. That’s exactly what Fonkoze understands.”

The project also reflects the power of creative collaboration between artists, storytellers, and advocates committed to amplifying Haitian voices through culture and music. At Fonkoze, we believe culture is not separate from development work—it is an essential part of how communities preserve identity, build solidarity, and inspire change.
