Even in the face of immense adversity, the work of Fonkoze continues—quietly, steadfastly, and powerfully— because Haitian women continue to lead.
Fondasyon Kole Zepòl Leadership

The Kole Zepòl Foundation (Fonkoze) is a Haitian non-profit institution founded in 1994 by Father Joseph Philippe and a group of grassroots organizations, and recognized as serving the public good since 2005. It provides development services and programs to support the ultra-poor and microfinance clients with the resources and skills they need to overcome obstacles and build wealth for their families and communities.
To date, the Fonkoze Foundation has more than 100 employees—30% of whom are women—providing training and support services across all 10 departments of the country. Our teams are organized around three programs:
Credit center leaders become health resources for their communities, offering products, guidance, training, and basic malnutrition and hypertension screening services.
Our Chemen Lavi Miyò program enables women who live in ultrapoverty and their families to develop sustainable livelihoods and the capacity to maintain them beyond the program’s direct support..
Through digital story-based training modules, participants learn to read and write, better manage their businesses, and protect themselves against the primary risks they face.
