“The program had a lot of reasons for switching from in-kind transfers to cash ones,” a team member shared. “but Marjina’s experience shows that it has work to do as far as helping members buy well.” — Marjorie Paul, CHE participant

CLM participants live on the margins of rural society in some of the most underserved communities in Haiti. Before joining CLM, these families face chronic hunger, lack reliable income, have no productive assets, and limited access to healthcare, safe housing, and education for their children.

“I speak as a friend of Fonkoze, as an admirer, and as a member of the village. What I witness is more than programs or outcomes—it’s a community that shows up, again and again, with empty hands and full hearts. Fonkoze has long known what we’re all beginning to understand: it takes a village.”

“When I think of the women in Haiti striving to make ends meet—the very women Fonkoze walks alongside—I think of my grandmother. I can only imagine what more she would have achieved had Fonkoze existed in her day.”-

“The Haitian diaspora has a powerful role to play in Haiti’s future. Haiti will rise — but it can’t do it alone. The diaspora must stand with the homeland.  Without organizations like Fonkoze, countless lives will remain untouched, and critical work will go unfinished.”
